The Cooper 12 minute run/walk test is a test created by Dr. Ken Cooper as a field test to determine aerobic fitness. He found that there is a high correlation between the distance a person can walk or run in 12 minutes and their VO2 max, which measures how a person uses their oxygen while exercising. The test is pretty simple and doesn't require much at all, the person being tested runs or walks as far as they can in 12 minutes and then is measured my multiplying the amount of miles traveled time 35.97 and then minutes by 11.29. Anyone can preform this test although it mainly used in military personnel.
